Hotel Indigo Newark Downtown

Newark, NJ

Hotel Indigo Newark Downtown is a boutique hotel located in the heart of Newark, New Jersey, and is right down the street from the town’s well-known entertainment venue – the Prudential Center. Hotel Indigo houses over 90 guest rooms and a number of amenities for guests.

The original building’s structure was created in 1912 and was designed by Cass Gilbert serving as a National State Bank in the area. The current building still has remnants of its prior history with its oversized arching windows, ornately detailed pillars, restored front desk and vault inside of the building, and the original lettering near the entrance of the building.

Porcelanosa’s ventilated façade system was used on newer additions to the existing building. Almost 13,000 square feet of Avenue White porcelain panels were used to cover the building’s additions. The Avenue White panels were laid in a similar horizontal layout, and help to bring a modern solution to the project that blends in perfectly with the building’s original stone veneer.

Indigo Hotel Dialog between new Porcelain skin and original Stone Veneer

Dialog between new Porcelain skin and original Stone Veneer

Porcelanosa’s ventilated façade system was used on newer additions to the existing building. Almost 13,000 square feet of Avenue White porcelain panels were used to cover the building’s additions. The Avenue White panels were laid in a similar horizontal layout, and help to bring a modern solution to the project that blends in perfectly with the building’s original historic terracotta panels. In this case, the porcelain panels serve as a stronger and more durable reinterpretation of the historic terracotta panels.
